Lisa Louie is a Maui fiber artist and teacher making volcanoes and waterfalls with yarn. Primarily a hand knitter, she adds extra texture and movement to her work by breaking the knitting “rules.” By adding texture to the yarns with colors like the ‘aina (land) and kai and wai (ocean and waters), her work unexpectedly resembles the unique place she lives. Other pieces are abstract or express social issues like addiction or gun violence. Each piece of wearable and display art is created by hand. Most are one of a kind. Custom orders and fiber art lessons are available. Louiefiberworks.com
